Fleetwood Plan
A plan for Fleetwood is underway. The plan will guide growth and change over the next 30 years as SkyTrain extends along Fraser Highway to Langley. Last year with your input an updated plan was endorsed by Council. More changes are now needed before Council finalizes the plan.

Thank you to the more than 900 people who took part in the Fall 2020 survey.
We asked participants to consider three growth options: concentrated, dispersed, or balanced, and which option they thought was best for Fleetwood. The results show a preference for the balanced and concentrated growth options. Both options focus growth and density around future SkyTrain stations, and in Fleetwood Town Centre.

In the Spring of 2020, as we were moving into Step 2 of the plan process (Exploring Options) the pandemic hit. In response to the pandemic the City paused all engagement. When outreach resumed we shifted engagement online to address social distancing measures. We also re-framed the planning process to account for the new normal. Step 2 (Exploring Options) was separated into three distinct phases to provide more opportunity for outreach and reflection:
- Step 2a: Checking In (Spring 2020 phase)
- Step 2b: Exploring Growth Options (Summer/Fall 2020 phase - Upcoming)
- Step 2c: Heart of Fleetwood (Fall 2020 phase - Upcoming)
Thank you to the more than 1,200 people who took part in the Spring 2020 Fleetwood Plan online survey. Council Endorses Fleetwood Plan Vision and Objectives
Share Council Endorses Fleetwood Plan Vision and Objectives on Facebook Share Council Endorses Fleetwood Plan Vision and Objectives on Twitter Share Council Endorses Fleetwood Plan Vision and Objectives on Linkedin Email Council Endorses Fleetwood Plan Vision and Objectives linkThe proposed vision and objectives for the Fleetwood Plan were endorsed by Council September 14th, 2020 in Corporate Report R139, setting direction for the creation of the Fleetwood Plan which will incorporate core community values into future planning in the area.
Public input played a key role in developing the vision and objectives. Between April and June 2020, staff engaged with over 1400 community members through an online survey. This resulted in more than 1,200 survey responses. Community members shared what they value about their neighbourhoods, ideas, interests, and opportunities.
The next step in the plan process is developing growth scenarios and emerging directions which will be presented to the public in late 2020. Once a preferred set of directions has been selected and tested with the public, a draft plan will be created and presented to Council for consideration in spring 2021.
